A Message from the Carnation City Council
The City Council would like to take this time and Thank all our Residents, Business Owners, Employees and City Staff.
We realize this has been a challenge for our community. Our world is facing an unknown and we are all trying to get through this pandemic as best we can. We are taking this time to let you know how much we appreciate everyone practicing social distancing, helping neighbors and friends when needed, respecting the park closures and doing what is needed to keep this virus from spreading. Currently, we are living in different times, this is new to every one of us.
Here are some of the wonderful things that are happening in our Community.
The Sno-Valley Senior Center is delivering lunches to our Senior Community. The Riverview School District is providing breakfast and lunch to students to pick up Monday-Friday. We have two foodbanks, Hopelink and Tolt Congregational Church, that are available to everyone. The Snoqualmie Valley Community Network is providing breakfast and lunch for students on the weekends through the Power Packs program, that are picked up on Friday when picking up lunches at the schools.
It is wonderful how kids are writing notes to our seniors. The notes are being delivered with the lunches and the seniors who are receiving them are so appreciative. It is wonderful how people have gotten into the “Bear Walk” this is where people have put bears and stuffed animals in their windows. This puts a lot of smiles on people faces when they see them. We’ve spotted a few people dressed up in costumes when walking the trail. It is wonderful to see the creative ways people are getting through this. This is the BEST of our Community!!!
We realize it is a challenge for the businesses that had to close, many are finding new ways to do business from home or online. We appreciate Our businesses that are being able to stay open, and how they are adapting to the new rules.
-
IGA, Carnation Market, is now offering curbside delivery.
-
Blake’s Pizzeria has online ordering.
-
Carnation Café and Sandy’s Espresso has teamed up with Sandy’s selling Carnation Cafe’s amazing donuts and egg sandwiches.
-
Red Pepper Pizza is waving their delivery charge.
-
Ixtapa and Sam’s Noodle Town are both doing take out by calling in.
-
Pete’s Club Grill is re-opening on the weekends for pick up.
We are very fortunate to have Life in Balance, Carnation Laundry and Ace Hardware open. This way people can still be seen for their ailments, be able to do their laundry and of course now there is no reason why we cannot do those home improvements that we have been putting off. Thank you to all the employees that are continuing to come to work to support the business and the patrons. It is great to see how Our Community is doing their BEST to help support the businesses as best they can.
City Hall is also adapting with the stay in place directive as well. City Hall is closed, but you can still call or email, someone will get back to you in a timely matter. Public Works is working with a skeleton crew to make sure everything is working properly. We have a Utility Relief Plan for those that are in need, please contact city hall if you would like more information or assistance. We are constantly staying in touch with the school district, King County, the governor’s office and Congresswoman DelBene for the most recent updates. To practice proper social distancing, the City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meetings in April remotely. We encourage the public to "tune-in."
You have heard this many, many times “We are ALL in this together” not one of us is not being touched by this pandemic in some way. We are here to assist anyway we can. Please reach out and let us know how we can help.
Please continue to Practice “Physical” Distancing. We will get through this.
Sincerely,
The Carnation City Council
