Effective January 2010, it's easier to save on Medicare Drug Plan Costs

A new "twist" in the law makes it easier than ever to save on your prescription costs.

In 2008, Congress passed the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) which changed the eligibility rules for the Low Income Subsidy (LIS) for Medicare Part D program. Effective 1/1/10, they will no longer count:

  • Assistance received for household expenses as income
  • Life Insurance policies as a resource

These changes in the law may allow more people on Medicare to qualify for assistance with prescription drug costs through our “Extra Help” program.  We believe the information in the enclosed brochure will benefit your friends, relatives, and your community.
