SCADA Monitoring and Source Meter
Design and Installation of a telemetry system will improve the safety, operation and maintenance capabilities of the water system. The telemetry system will allow the City to operate and monitor its whole water system from a centralized location. Telemetry equipment will be installed at the springs source site, the reservoir site, and the well site. The telemetry system at the springs source site will monitor gaseous chlorine levels at the chlorination building, and other operational parameters as required by WSDOH. With the telemetry system, alarms will notify City personnel if a problem arises at any of the sites. In the future, as a separate project, the City’s vacuum sewer system can be connected to the same telemetry system.
The total cost for the telemetry system is $204,502 and is funded by water GFCs and the water capital surcharge revenue from the City's 402 Water Capital Improvement Fund and sewer GFCs from the City's 408 Sewer Capital Fund.
This project also includes replacement of the source meter at the springs to ensure accurate measurement of water use. The City existing source meter at the springs was installed in 2007, and the typical life span of a source meter/technology is about 15 years. The cost for source meter replacement is $35,582 and is funded by water GFCs and the water capital surcharge revenue from the City's 402 Water Capital Improvement Fund.
The City awarded a contract for construction of the project to Larry Brown Construction on October 5, 2021
The project is expected to complete construction by May 2022.
