You may have noticed some alley and street improvements throughout the City of Carnation since January. Our CED Utility Manager reached out to Benjamin Asphalt, a local asphalting company that resides in Carnation, to conduct some alley maintenance. Throughout the past 5 months, many other developments in addition to alley work have taken place.

The following enhancements took place from January – June 2023 thanks to the hard work of the people who make up Benjamin Asphalt and our CED Utility team. We sincerely thank the City Council for approving these projects.

  • Alley Grading:

Every single alley in the City – with the exception of Alley D – was graded and leveled.

  • Alley Paving:

Alley J, behind Red Pepper Pizza, is currently in the process of getting paved.

  • Street Grading:

Bagwell Street, West Commercial Street, and NE 47th Street were graded and leveled.

  • Parking Lot Paving:

The parking lots at Nick Loutsis Park and Valley Memorial Park have been paved.

  • Sports Court Paving:

The basketball court at Valley Memorial Park has been paved and striped. Look forward to hoops and a fence being installed in the coming weeks.

  • Shoulder Maintenance:

Shoulder work was conducted on East Reitze Street, West Rutherford Street, and East Bird Street.

  • Street Paving:

A section of Stossel Street by Hockert Park and Tolt Commons will be paved next week. Stay tuned for dates and times. This is in addition to a new storm drain that was installed.

  • Potholes:

Potholes were fixed and paved around water valves throughout the City.

  • Valve Maintenance:

Water and sewer valves have been exercised throughout the City.

  • Storm Catch Basin Maintenance:

A Vactor Trailer cleaned out the storm drains throughout the City.

  • Water Meter Box Repairs

Cleaning, raising, and fixing meter boxes throughout the City is scheduled in June.
